About the Tejasvi Awards
The Tejasvi Awards is an initiative born from a simple yet powerful observation: Austin’s vibrant and fast-growing Indian community lacks a dedicated, formal platform to recognize and celebrate its own most impactful leaders and changemakers.
Our mission is to fill this gap by establishing an enduring tradition of honoring excellence, selflessness, and leadership within the Indian diaspora, while simultaneously strengthening ties with the broader Austin society.
Our Objectives
The initiative is built on four core objectives:
- Recognition: Honor individuals who have made a significant, tangible impact across various aspects of the Austin community.
- Inspiration: Inspire the next generation of Indian-American leaders to contribute meaningfully to civic and social life.
- Connection: Foster stronger relationships between the Indian diaspora and the diverse communities of Austin.
- Legacy: Establish a respected, annual platform for celebrating outstanding community service and achievement.
Scope of Recognition
We aim to celebrate excellence across five key pillars of community contribution:
- Arts & Culture: Promoting Indian classical dance, music, theater, and the influence of Bollywood.
- Philanthropy & Volunteering: Making significant and sustained contributions to social causes and non-profit organizations.
- Civic Engagement: Influencing local policy, governance, and community welfare through active participation.
- Entrepreneurship & Innovation: Driving success in business, technology, and creating economic opportunity.
- Education & Literature: Enriching minds through knowledge, mentorship, and storytelling.
The Path Forward: Our Vision
Our ultimate goal is to organize an annual gala—a premier event that serves as the pinnacle of the awards ceremony.
This gala will feature:
- An esteemed award ceremony for the year’s honorees.
- Keynote speeches by distinguished leaders and changemakers.
- Cultural performances showcasing Austin’s rich Indian heritage.
- Networking and collaboration opportunities for community members and organizations.
Awardee Selection Process: A dedicated committee of 5 or 7 respected community individuals will be appointed to guide the rigorous selection process, culminating in nominations received from the broader community.
